Long Day’s Journey into Night

By Eugene O'Neill

“Stammering is the native eloquence of us fog people”

Eugene O’Neill is regarded as America’s greatest dramatist and Long Day’s Journey into Night his finest play. This Druid production is the first major Irish production for many years of a work in which O’Neill’s Irish heritage plays a significant part. Taking place over the course of a single day and night in 1912, it is O’Neill’s journey into the night of the four embattled souls of the Tyrone family. This production will open in Galway before transferring to the Gaiety as one of the highlights of the 50th Dublin Theatre Festival

“We’re delighted that James Cromwell will be performing in Dublin as part of the 50th anniversary Dublin Theatre Festival. The Festival has played host to many of the world’s greatest actors over its long history and Mr. Cromwell’s forthcoming appearances are a very welcome addition to a long and illustrious rolecall which already includes Aidan Quinn, David Soul, Neve Campbell, Tom Waits, Geoffrey Rush, Jeremy Irons, Sorcha Cusack, Simon Callow, Derek Jacobi, Pete Postlethwaite and Tom Conti amongst many others.” Dublin Theatre Festival Artistic Director / CEO Loughlin Deegan
